How Yoshi’s Island Got Its Beautiful Hand-drawn Look
Jun 16, 2018 · It's more like a great combination that was unseen before, especially on the SNES. Yoshi's Island surely would have played the same with a simpler style (like, say, Super Mario World), but the art style change improved the immersive potential and uniqueness of the game. Miyamoto's a pure game designer at heart, so I can see where his salt comes ...

Yoshi's design in Wonder looks like it pulls inspiration from
Aug 31, 2023 · I know there's been a lot of discussion of Wonder's art direction being reminiscent of the character art that Yoichi Kotabe has done for the series. I thought this was a particularly interesting example of that as Yoshi's design since the Gamecube era has been consistently a lot more stout and rounded.

Yoshi & Pluto - the dog Bowser & Pete - the main antagonist who's been there from the beginning, towering over the main character. Big, bulky, and brutish, also has a son named Junior. Often tries to steal the main character's love interest from him. They’re a bit of a stretch but you could pair plenty of characters up.
