Mar 20, 2013 · The yz85 uses standard valves and is a "modern" open bath similar in function to what you'd find in the 2000-2004 yz forks. You can pull them apart and revalve them with good results. So, not a big deal if it's just a play bike or a transitional bike.

Jun 4, 2006 · My opinion is that the yz 80 is not only faster, has better suspension, and better looks but also sits a solid foot above the PW seat height and is a 5-speed tranny. compared to the PW only having 3-speed and being automatic.

It doesn't seem like much technology goes towards the smaller bikes! Biggest difference is .5mm bigger on the cylinder bore. And they had some clutch plate updates. Whats the difference between a yz80 and a YZ85? In a nutshell, there is not that big a difference in power levels between an 80 and an 85. You are only talking about 5cc additional displacement between the two engines.
