Nov 16, 2010 · OK, well, if you are talking about an XS400F or 2F (in the U.S.) you are talking about a 1979 XS400. There was no "XS400" (no letter)- that year, they were either an F or 2F. The "F" was the "standard" version and to quote from the 1979 ad hanging on my office wall:

Nov 23, 2020 · I purchased a 1979 xs400F a few days ago and I'm trying to get it running. The previous owner said the ignition coils burnt while he was tuning the carbs. He put new ones on but didn't connect them.

Aug 26, 2011 · Water levels have been used for years to establish a level line for buildings,etc.Water in a tube always seeks a perfect level. This is the same concept,as the pressure at rest will be level,and with pressure equalized,it will be level as well.

Jul 27, 2015 · You would need a single fire coil. One with one wire per coil. Those types you listed are for 360* and like type firing motors. Ours has a 180* crank and needs a separate coil for each plug.

Oct 3, 2021 · I’m going to wire it as it is, with the black wire going to keyed power, but every pre-TCI setup I see has it going to ground. Just seems odd is all, there is no schematic in the Haynes manual that matches my bike completely. It’s like a mix of the 1979 US XS400F model, which it is, and the newer G models. Has anyone else run into this?

Jun 2, 2013 · Wanted to ask these questions before its too late in the game as my bike is going to be fired up soon after rebuilding the entire thing. Every reference and wiring diagram I have seen for my '78 refers to the ignition coil colours as Grey being Left side ignition coil and piston and Orange being Right ignition coil and piston.
