Sep 13, 2010 · The new Blackhawk flattops have the new XR3 grip frames on them, but remember these are the flattop guns. The regular Blackhawks still have the XR3-RED style frames on them.

Mar 23, 2018 · Ruger Old Army used XR3-RED grip frames. Several years ago, Ruger started making a mid-frame "Flattop" Blackhawk. These guns are somewhat of a mixture of old and new .... a smaller cylinder frame and a thinner XR3 grip frame that use the old style XR3 grips.

But of course other grips that would fit are Single Six, Vaquero, Old Army. If it fits the XR3 square then you have the New Steel XR3 which is the New Vaquero and the New Flattop Blackhawks. Feb 7, 2021 · The grip panels for one of those old XR3 frames will not fit the new steel XR3 frames because the grip locator pin in the new XR3 frame is in a slightly different place. A pair of old XR3 grips can be made to fit the new XR3 grip frames if you want to relocate the grip pin hole in the grips. They do have the same outside perimeter shape.

Apr 3, 2012 · BRL; I tried to find a XR3 grip frame for sale but that was a bust. I did come across a couple RED's though. Did I hear you say the a RED will fit on a 3 screw cyl frame? I know the grip panels are not the same shape and won't interchange. Also is the same grip frame used on both the SS and the BH? I thought I read that somewhere.

May 27, 2009 · Asphalt Man, Your Single-Six was made during the transition period where Ruger was converting from the old XR3 grip frame to the newer XR3 RED (Redesigned) grip frame. Likely it has the XR3 RED grip frame but an XR3 is possible. Before you buy grips, you must determine which grip frame you have because the grips are not interchangeable.

Mar 13, 2013 · Your short barreled SBH has an XR3-RED profile grip frame on it. This is the same grip frame as the regular Blackhawk and Vaquero. Only the long barreled (7 1/2" & 10 1/2") SBH's have the bigger dragoon style grip frame with the square back trigger guard.
