Nov 19, 2012 · We move our wood from the shed to the house. The wood is stacked on a rack out back and as the rack is filled it gets sorted. All the large overnight burners are to the far left large splits and medium in the middle and all the smaller and lower BTU stuff is all the way to the right. In the house there are 2 storage racks we use.

Oct 2, 2011 · Hoping the three screws per post is enough. I may at some point need to either add more/longer screws, or potentially in the future replace with thicker boards. I may just be over-analyzing though, as it seems to be the thickness most use. This is a pretty tall and very full wood shed though, lol, so a lot of weight on the sides. Time will tell!
Building wood shed, which direction should the open wall(s) face?
Feb 7, 2010 · As for the direction . . . one could argue that it would be best to face it southerly for more seasoning . . . but truthfully if you're packing the wood inside the shed it's going to have limited exposure to the sun and wind at that point . . .

Aug 20, 2009 · My wood shed was (it's gone now) 25x16. Just a roof - it was open on all 4 sides. I could put in 20 cords. (That was just under 2 years supply, using my old boiler and stove.) I'm waiting to see how the new Econoburn works this winter, then I'll build a much smaller wood storage area inside a small barn/garage - maybe 7-8 cord.

Jul 25, 2016 · This is just my old school opinion; a wood shed? In all my life since childhood, decades ago and through the senior years now, we have never had a wood shed. Have used all types of wood burning appliances including, cook stoves, furnaces, boilers, space heaters, and a couple hybrid prototypes.

Oct 12, 2016 · I am starting holz hausens next to the shed to dry next years lumber. Left pile is an 11ft diameter and right pile is 9ft in diameter. So next year I load the empty side of the shed with the holz hausen wood and then take the left over wood on the non empty side and put it in front. Then load the fully empty side with more holz hausen wood.

Jul 26, 2015 · Well one of the subjects I like is the wood shed. I like to see pics, watch videos & see what others are doing. I built my own firewood shed. I built it out of logs that were meant to be cut for firewood, I documented the progress & made a few videos if anybody is interested in seeing the progress I made. I posted them on youtube.

Sep 2, 2020 · The purpose of a wood shed is to keep rain and snow off the already seasoned wood (for hardwoods). Using the shed to season wood is not the best plan. The wood should be mostly seasoned prior to being moved to the shed. This takes at least 12 mos. in the best conditions. I wouldn't move wood to a shed until split and stacked for two summers.
