While the exact forms of these awe-inspiring creatures vary from story to story, it is evident that they are known under a common name – dragons - and yet other tales refer to some of these majestic beasts of legend differently, calling them drakes, wyverns, and wyrms.

The Wyrm seems more like a giant snake than a dragon. They are legless and wingless creatures, larger than wyverns but smaller than drakes. Their name comes from the Old German for "Worm."
