Mar 10, 2005 · There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. That does not mean that with some combinations it could not be used with 7/8 or even 1-1/8 ounce loadings. In the Federal hull with 1 ounce payloads, Remington's SP20 or RXP20 may do as well as the Winchester wad.

Aug 8, 2014 · The Waa20F1 is a 1 oz wad, where the CB 1078 is a 7/8 oz.wad. SO, you probably won't have room enough for 1 oz. of shot, using the CB 1078 wad. With pressures that low, you could safely use a Remington SP-20, (or SP-20S), which is for loading 1 oz. loads.

Nov 16, 2003 · Winchester has really screwed up, IMO. Discontinuing not only the WAA20F1 wad and some very good other ones too, Winchester also dropped from their product line the W540 and W571 powders and several others of those as well. I used to have a favorite 20 gauge load that used the WAA20F1 wad and W540.

Is this possible? They said to just replace the waa20f1 for a waa20 and use the same load data? Let me know guys? Because...

Dec 16, 2021 · There is no replacement wad. The Remington SP20 was the last 1 ounce wad for 20 gauge tapered hulls, and they are scarce also. There's a single 1 ounce load in Remington hulls using AA20 wad and HS-6 in Lyman 5th Edition Handbook.

Jun 26, 2022 · The Waa20f1 has been gone for decades, the Federal 20s1 is recently gone, and now there is a good chance we will never see another Remington wad ever again. It is a valid question. I have been loading 1 ounce loads with the 20s1, but now that it is gone, I've gone back to the Waa20, or more specifically the Claybuster CB1078-20.

Oct 1, 2004 · Anybody know why Winchester quit making the WAA20F1 wad? I also heard that the new WAA20 wad is different than the older WAA20 wad, and that the Claybuster WAA20 replacement wad is to the same spec. as the old Winchester WAA20 wad.
