WRC 297 - Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering - Eng-Tips
Jun 24, 2004 · WRC 107 and 297 are based on different methods of analysis. 297 considers the relative stiffness of the nozzle as well as the cylindrical shell (297 considers only cylinders attached to cylinders). The bulletin 297 determines the stress at only 4 cardinal points at the nozzle-shell junction.

Apr 3, 2006 · I want to know in what conditions WRC 107/297 is different. I know WRC 107 is only to computes stresses in the vessel and WRC 297 for computing the stresses in the nozzle and the vessel. But which is the best method to anlyze nozzle loadings. What is the critera for determining which WRC method to be used to analyze nozzle loadings.. Thanks

Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering - Eng-Tips
Aug 14, 2006 · This sounds like a typical WRC-107 / WRC-297 calculation, with the exception of the coordinate system. All load and moments are applied simultaneously. WRC-107 uses a vessel coordinate system, with shear forces and moments in vessel longitudinal, circumferential and radial directions rather than x,x,z coordinates.
