Jan 14, 2025 · The Wisconsin Central Ltd. SD45 was a favorite target of Midwest railfans from the arrival of the first ones in the late '80s until the last few were withdrawn by CN in the mid-2000s. Unfortunately for me I took up railfan-photography just a couple of years too late for them.

On 8-3-2005, Ken Lanovich reported: "WC SD45`s 6610, and 6611 are in the process of being scrapped at IC`s Woodcrest shop. Cutting torches had the frame of 6610 in three pieces today. All of the hood doors were cut off 6611.

Jul 14, 2010 · They just used the WC reporting marks and a few units were even repainted into WC colors but were still technically Oxford units (i.e. the 1700-series WC SD45's that were on the W&LE in the early 90's).

Jul 26, 2024 · As profits soared under Burkhardt the WC expanded; in 1993 it picked up the historic Green Bay & Western from the Itel Corporation. Diesel Locomotive Roster. The WC is best remembered for its large fleet of SD45s it operated. However, the numbering of these locomotives was so eclectic that they have not been listed here.
