On September 11, 2001 in response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania, Fighter Squadron ELEVEN was called to action to provide homeland and coastal defense. In February of 2002 the Rippers deployed aboard USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV-67) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
