I did it. Eliminated the 2000 rpm exhaust drone - Hot Rod Forum
Mar 7, 2009 · Okay the drone test. Took it up a few hills thursday night. 4th gear, 3rd gear... loaded up at 1800-2200 rpm... no drone. Today took it up the same freeway hill as the previous weekend. No drone. It's gone. The way I built it, I could simply unclamp the tubes and cap the tee if …

Jan 22, 2011 · I've since switched to a HM/Perry 2.5" exhaust (my Xforce was 3") and it's about the same in loudness except it's all V8 note and very little drone for how loud it is. Xforces drone would be 9/10 (just incase there is something dronier out there) and the HM would be a 3/10 I think maybe the muffler man in prahran might still have my varex
Exhaust : Flowmaster 40s vs Glasspacks | Hot Rod Forum
Dec 11, 2024 · Sounded like a V8 at idle and I got a LOT of attention with that exhaust note. They did, however, drone at cruise a little. I would probably buy those mufflers again if they were available, but they're not. Now that I've installed a V8 in the Jav, I went with The "Rumble" mufflers available at O'Reilly's and Summit for $50-$60 each.
Exhaust options to fix drone - ls1.com.au
The drone comes from using a straight through pipe at the rear. The std muffler has a longer system because it uses a triple flow, hence the pipe length is longer. Using a simple straight through muffler is shorter by about 28" and the sound …

Jan 3, 2013 · In my case definetlely the rear muffler, I had a HM stainless steel cat back on my VX SS, was supposed to be stainless but the inside of the rear muffler must have been mild steel, it rusted out internally and the fibreglass filling started to come out, the outer case was fine but the inner tube rusted out, anyway the more fibreglass that came out the more the drone increased it …

Had a couple of resonators added to the catback but still drones. What combination of extractors, cats and catback have people got on their VZ MY06 L76 6 Litre that gives them a nice v8 sound with 'no drone'? Thanks My VZSS Thunder ute, L76 6.0L T56, with 3.9 gears, is quiet as a mouse cruising on fwy at 100 clicks... Drone what drone...
WM Caprice (AFM) twin 3 inch droning / options to remove drone ...
Nov 5, 2012 · I doubt most passengers would be aware of it. When set on quiet and cruising around it's almost like stock but with a hint of a V8 note when the foot is put down a little. On medium around town there was no drone, with a decent V8 sound when you put the foot down. I'm not sure if it droned on the highway, maybe a tiny bit, i didn't really test it.
VE SS exhaust on a VE SV6 [Archive] - Australian LS1 and Holden …
Nov 10, 2009 · If you can find an exhaust place that is willing to put a v8 system on just for a test drive i'd give it a go but from what i was told it will probably drone a fair bit. I was looking at the v8 system which is a 2.5 inch and was told to be careful as twin 2.5 in the v6 could be a little too big plus the v8 systems although producing a bit of ...
V8 Rumble.. [Archive] - Australian LS1 and Holden Forums
Looking for a bit more of a deeper rumbling note. Also, is it just me, or does the LS1/C4B engine feel strangled. You certainly know that the engine has grunt, but it seems to me that it feels strangled in it's breathing and I'm wondering if the new extractors would make a difference to this as well as the V8 rumble??? Cheers Zombee:)

It works by having a pipe that is a 1/4 wave length long at the revs that drone, hence 1/4 wave length to then reflect off the capped end, arriving back in the main pipe at 1/2 wavelength offset to cancel out the incoming wave. Length they used is around 28", but I believe that a 1800 rpm drone frequency of 120 Hz will need a 24" pipe.
