The USS Ouellet arrived at homeport in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on April 15, 1971. The first deployment to the Western Pacific was from January 27, 1972 to August 25, 1972. USS Ouellet twice came under hostile fire during this deployment, however no causalities were sustained.
