Dec 22, 2016 · Simply put, switching mode BECs are just a swtich, a capacitor and a filter. There's a circuit the turns the switch on and off to maintain the charge on the capacitor at the desired voltage. The filter filters out the switching transients.

Oct 30, 2023 · The 3A-UBEC is a switch-mode DC-DC regulator supplied with a 2-6 cells lithium battery pack (or 5-18 cells NiMh /NiCd battery ) and it outputs a consistent safe voltage for your receiver, gyro and servos.

The UBEC has built in filter capacitors on the input and output, but its a switching supply so its a little noisy compared to a linear regulator. There is a label on the clear heat shrink around the circuit board for the UBEC.
