I know it has fallen out of fashion with the new high energy bass crowd, but that slow plop plop waking bait has accounted for a few tons of bass. Its Sept 1 and for many that means the final 60 days of the bass season. I was out once this past week and maybe for the first time saw some sign of Fall as I caught a few fish scattered on flats with a swim jig. A lot is going to change in the weeks ahead – feel free to post water temps, depths, lures, patterns that are working, etc.

Aug 1, 2023 · Seems like the late summer smallmouth bite on the river is getting going. Fished a lot of top water and swim baits this weekend. Little jig and crawler to. Sundays trip was just a hole lot of catching fish. Plenty of action right on the river bank but it also paid to run those lures back towards the boat a ways to.

Jul 5, 2022 · I bought the G.O.A.T Toadz Eric mentioned above and rigged with a 5/0 EWG. They have pretty much replaced all of my frog/toads lures. Reason is they float and you can retrieve at the right speed – somewhere a little quicker than a walking frog yet not as fast as a traditional toad that you have to move relatively fast to keep from sinking.
