Oct 4, 1999 · THX didn't mandate a tradeoff of output over frequency extension, but a manufacturer, like M&K, who EQ'd some of their subs to an f3 of 20Hz, could retune that EQ to get that same sub to meet the THX output spec, which only called for extension down to 30Hz in the '90s. Today the THX output requirement extends down to 20Hz.

I belive on a THX sub, the back has RCA inputs for THX receivers and a seperate set for non THX receivers,,,,, and allows all the fuction and controls that any other normal powered sub would. Crossover and volume knobs, etc, on the THX sub.

The issue is when I am watching a movie in dolby digital if I turn on the THX Cinema the mains are not as loud and the surrounds seem to disappear some along with the LFE. My system was set up using Audyssey XT and afterwards used an spl meter to test all the speakers and they read 75db.
