Oct 11, 2006 · Another major difference between the Imp 1404 and the Super Imp 1450 is about $6,000.00 to $10,000.00. The 1450 is worth more as it is much easier to drive and newer. I have never run the 1450 in deep snow but the 1404 is a great cat at 9,000 foot elevation in deep snow.

Apr 7, 2007 · Here are some pics of my older restored 1974 Thiokol 1404 WT Imp. I sold the Imp several years ago. It only had about 460 total hours and had been completely restored to like new condition. It was sold to a neighbor family that was extremely disappointed in the tracked Argo performance which they purchased to access their cabin in the winter.

Nov 21, 2007 · Currently I have an Imp, and I use to have a Sprite which is pretty much like the Super Imp. The Sprite had the six cylinder ford with Automatc Transmission and other than a few inches longer, was pretty much like the Super Imp except for the raised Wheel up front that gives the Imp track a bit of a jump up for breaking trail a bit better.

Feb 4, 2021 · Went to buy a hummer and ended up with the imp as a bonus. Wife almost killed me but I took one look at it and I new I had to have it. Sep 2, 2008 · Here is a rare 1977 Thiokol Imp hydrostatic snow cat. From what I am told Thiokol made about six hydrostatic Imps as prototypes. Imps and Super Imps are typically brake steer transmission driven, which is a thing of the past. Any 2-track snow cat made today is hydrostatic.

Mar 22, 2006 · I have a 1978 Thiokol Model 1450 Super Imp for sale (wide track). It is powered by a Ford 200 I-6, with a C-4 auto transmission and OC-12 rear end. The machine is currently used to access back country skiing in north-eastern Nevada. The cab and chassis have been re-done and painted (see photos)...

Feb 25, 2011 · In 1989 I found my Imp in a scrapyard, hours away from being crushed. $200 bought it and a spare OC4 rear from the Spryte they'd started to cut up Stripped off what was left of the original paint- easy in places, other areas seemed to cling better than an old girlfriend named Kristi [I may as well get off on the right foot here]

Mar 6, 2015 · Particular attention needs to paid to the rear ends as they can be prone to damage (especially in the case of the C-4 on the Imp), and quite expensive to repair. The OC-12 rear end on the Super Imp DMC/LMC 1450 and most Sprytes has a reputation for being much more heavy duty and reliable. Also, make sure you take a good look at the tracks.

Jun 15, 2024 · Alrighty, this is going to be a post on the relining process of a pair of old original steering bands from an OC-4 axle from a Thiokol Imp. The used bands are from John at Oliver Crawlers in New York. John is a great source for most things OC-4 related. This is my third (and hopefully final) time swapping brake bands.
