Evan Breitenbach grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. Eldest son to James, he began chasing with his father at a young age and started working with the TIV-2 and Storm Of Passion back in 2019. He has now become the vehicle’s primary driver.

On April 27, 2011, the TIV 2 team intercepted an EF4 tornado that hit near Enterprise, Mississippi. While not in the path but 200 yards from it, it was the first tornado he shot with his new stereoscopic IMAX camera.

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2 (TIV2) is a mobile tripod built for capturing close-range tornado footage. It features deployable wind flaps, anchoring spikes, and layered armor made of steel, Kevlar, polycarbonate, and aluminum. Storm of Passion is a team of nine volunteers dedicated to preserving and operating a piece of storm-chasing history.

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2 (TIV2) started as a Dodge Ram 3500 and was modified by IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey for the 2008-2011 seasons of Storm Chasers. It intercepted several tornadoes, including an EF-4 in Mississippi (2011) and an EF-3 in Kansas (2013). After the show ended, TIV2 fell into disrepair.
