The swimmer_plot() function includes the option for a bar to change colours. Each section of the bars should be in a different row, where each row includes the time that section ends.

The general idea of a swimmer plot is to show subject-level data and events along a unidimensional timeline. The parallel presentation of subjects resembles the racing lanes of a swimming pool, hence the name of the plot. The concept can accommodate many types of data.

Swimmer Lane plots can visually tell each subject’s response story with exact data labels, such as, which time point has Complete Response, or which point has Disease Progression (PD), or Death. Different colored bars distinguish different types of tumor or stage.

This paper proposes enhanced swimmer plots which extended the use of swimmer plots to more sophisticated cases with two examples.
