If you've ever studied touch-typing on the QWERTY keyboard, you probably spent quite a bit of time getting comfortable with the home position and with the proper ways to stretch your fingers to reach all the keys. On a steno keyboard, none of that complexity exists, and you can learn proper fingering in about one minute.

A dot at the end of a word expresses -ing. The pronoun I is expressed by a large circle (written counterclockwise); he, by a small circle. The student should practice all these characters until he or she can write them without the slightest hesitation.

Steno Order. If the sounds for a word can fit into steno order, then you can type that word with one stroke:

Instead of coming back for final G when adding "ing" to a word, just add it to the root word. For example, I write assume, SAOUM.
