Jun 4, 1995 · According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 7342 was built in April 1966 by EMD as a model SD40, builders number 31551, SP 8470, SP Class EF630-1. This locomotive was upgraded in Dec. 1980 emerging as SP 7342 EMD SD40R, SP Class EF630R-1.
