At CEDIA 2008, Panasonic showed off two new Blu-ray players, the DMP-BD35 ($300) and the step-up DMP-BD55 ($400). Both players are Profile 2.0, which means they support BonusView/picture-in-picture content and BD-Live Web functionality, and both sport a new aesthetic and slimmer design than their predecessor, the DMP-BD50.

Oct 17, 2008 · As Panasonic continues their hertiage of producing excellent proforming blu-ray players, the BD55 is perhaps the best blu-ray player on the market for its price range and the best blu-ray player that Panasonic has made so far. Sony again can't reach Panasonic's level of expertise of blu-ray players. Sony should learn from them.

Aug 10, 2019 · both are quiet disk-spinners and the BD55 does have the edge with both DVD upscaling and Bluray discs. There's by no means a massive gulf between the two, but the BD55 produces a slightly cleaner, more detailed picture.
