Aug 12, 2012 · So I was researching the mono box, and saw that Help! and Rubber Soul include the "original 1965 stereo mixes" in addition to the mono mixes. According to Wikipedia these original stereo mixes were replaced by updated stereo mixes in 1986 by George Martin for the first CD releases because he wasn't happy with the original 60s stereo mixes.

Jan 11, 2008 · The "loud cut" Rubber Soul is simply more compressed than the subsequent pressings. It's rarer, therefore more expensive and sounds worse. 1980s (pre digital UK pressings are relatively cheap, tend to be in better condition and sound OK.

They are a bit of an oddity and have acquired a sort of mythical status because they have been deemed “loud” (as though that is somehow “better”) they do command a bit of a premium over other early UK Rubber Soul pressings. But they are not uncommon and thus condition still has the largest bearing on value.

What I really hope for is a remix that will make everyone happy, a SDE containing the remix, AAA (AAD for the CD SDE) Mono disc/LP, 2 discs of outtakes/alternative tracks and a Bluray.

Nov 14, 2002 · There is an extremely valid reason for Rubber Soul to be reissued in mono--the stereo is very bad!! And I usually love stereo. What I don't understand, and someone please illuminate me on this, is why Rubber Soul reverted back to the "primitive" kind of stereo such as was present on Please Please Me and With The Beatles.
