Aug 1, 2008 · Harry, my impression of what a router lathe is, is pictured in bobj3's post immediately following your post. Am I wrong? I may have misunderstood how skalynuik intended to use the router. I was trying to suggest a way to use a router to do lathe-type things. I recently found two brands of router lathes, Canwood and Trend, and there may be more.

Jun 14, 2019 · Two of the things I like about the Router lathe in Bill Hylton's book, is the ability to turn really long pieces of wood, and the ability to use bicycle gears to change the pitch of the spiral. a shortcoming of most of the router lathes is that you mostly cannot take an existing item. and use it as a template. let us say an existing table leg.

Jan 25, 2011 · Yes, the router lathe is one of the more common methods of mounting a router. There are 25 ways to mount a router in all. There are also several home made versions of the router lathe. The current commercial version is the Trend. Sears used to package the Trend. There are also several more, one made in Australia, one that used to be made in Canada.

It's a pretty slick-looking unit, made from MDF, plywood, bicycle chains and sprockets, a stout metal rod, bevel gears, angle iron, etc.

Mar 21, 2013 · Thanks Harry, I liked you indexing info. I'm thinking about a table that will sit on the lathe bed. On which my router laying on its side attatched to a sled witch i can slide along the bed free hand or with a guide pin, follow a template. I'll post pictures when I get it built. Paul
