Roger Alan Murrah (born November 20, 1946) is an American songwriter and independent music publisher who has written hits for artists including Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, Al Jarreau, and Alabama. [1]

When Roger Murrah was a kid growing up on the family farm in Alabama, his dad traded their pickup truck for an old piano. Roger and his five siblings all learned how to play by ear, and by age 13 he was writing his first songs.

With an astounding fourteen #1 hits, Roger Murrah is in the Nashville’s Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was awarded BMI’s prestigious “Songwriter of the Decade” for the 1980s.
