Dec 11, 2024 · Download the free Design Review 2013 and export the Revit model as a DWF. Use the Revit viewer mode. This is explained in the article: How to use Revit Viewer Mode; If you have Navisworks, you can open the Revit file in Navisworks, then save as an NWD file. That NWD file can then be viewed in the FreeNavisworks Freedom viewer.

Dec 13, 2015 · Thanks - having 2 or 3 backup files in there is fine. I just like minimizing issues with opening the wrong file. It would be nice if they were named something different, so they wouldn't show up when opening a file, but could be renamed if you needed to open the back up.

Mar 23, 2016 · AFAIK you can go grab REVIT and install it in trial mode: for 30-days you can convert the files yourself if you don't mind learning how to do it. Once the trial expires, you can use the 'viewer' for conversions.

Apr 21, 2015 · I expect this "backup files" problem is something like that. There simply must be something else. The sheer existence of backup files having any effect on how Revit works or does not work just does not make any reasonable sense. Hopefully, you will be able to provide some code and explanation what your API application actually does.

Mar 12, 2023 · Looks like you don't use central models, so just save-as the model once with less backup files option set then Revit will clean up the older ones itself. I think they are set at 20st. at default, set it to 5st. or so, depending on you're own backup setups (time/location). See this post: how-to-stop-revit-from-saving-autosave-files-to-the-original

Jun 28, 2018 · If there are files there you have shadow copy turned on, nothing, it's not. Else you have to recover a previous version through the Restore Backup (if a central model) by selecting the central model in the network location or find a file with .000XX after your file name.

If you wish to process an RVT file and export it to NWC without installing and launching Revit on a Windows desktop machine, your only option is to use Forge and the Forge Design Automation API for Revit:

One the one side if my thumbnails are alright, then opening by double click doesn´t work ...
