Rafa al-Nasiri (b.1940 Tikrit, Iraq -7 December 2013 Amman, Jordan) was an Iraqi painter, draughtsman, print-maker, educator and author whose works with a social and political message resonated with the Iraqi public in the mid-20th century. He was also very influential in encouraging young artists to take up print-making.

Rafa Nasiri is a painter, printmaker, a lecturer and graphic designer. He started his career with having private studios wherever he resides. Usually those studios are located inside the family residence, taking a private space where he can freely practice his painterly works.

Rafa Nasiri is a renowned contemporary Iraqi painter, known for his compositions (described by critics as "cosmicscapes") drawing cues from modern abstract art (particularly Abstract Expressionism/Tachisme) as well as using Arabic calligraphy and other cultural elements.

Rafa Nasiri (also al Nasiri) 1940-2013, an ingenious dedicated painter and printmaker, was born in Tikrit, a city besides the Tigris, approximately 180 km north of Baghdad.

Rafa Nasiri is considered one of the most influential Iraqi artists of the twentieth century, due in part to his central role in the foundation of numerous artists’ groups. Alongside several of his eminent peers, including Ismail Fattah al-Turk and Dia Azzawi, Nasiri founded al-Ru’yya al-Jadidah , “the New Vision” group, in 1968.
