Underpinning for Camper - Homesteading Forum
Jun 10, 2007 · CJ and BFF, thank you for the suggestions and the link. I never thought about "skirting". I put that in Google search and got a whole lot more pages with ideas. I actually found a website with a company that specializes in camper skirting. Nice, but VERY expensive. For our size camper, 26', it would cost 1100.00 for their skirting.
Straw Bales for Trailer insulation??? - Homesteading Forum
Jul 13, 2007 · I would check with your insurance company. Many will not insure a mobile that has straw bales because of the increased flammability factor. You wouldn't want to lose your insurance. Not to mention the fact that it is rather dangerous! SIP panels under the skirting would be a much better choice, or for that matter, why not some electrical ...
Living in our camper through the winter | Homesteading Forum
Aug 30, 2013 · Take foam insulation and cut it to fit from the ground to just above the bottom edge of your trailer, then use plywood screwed around it to make the skirting. Put a heat lamp under there on your water lines and then heat tape all of the water/sewer lines that aren't under the skirting and cover the heat tape with pipe insulation wrap.
Advice: RV vs. Swimming Pool - Homesteading Forum
Jan 12, 2007 · RV's cost a bundle but if you use them often, a family vacation in an RV is absolutely golden and they're worth every penny. BUT as much as I love the idea, I also know that my DH works a LOT, plus we have the "homestead" such as it is to maintain - …
RV with Rabbits? - Homesteading Forum
May 10, 2018 · Retired and downsized to an RV. Thinking that meat rabbits in tractors 2' x 3' x 1.5' arched with one end that opens for a door, these grass fed rabbits would thrive with a canvas shade on top and a water bottle. Since it is just my wife and me, we could do well with 2 staggered breeding does.
How to get rid of gas in soil? | Homesteading Forum
Mar 2, 2025 · The Helene storm last fall ripped part an RV in my cabin yard. I had the RV torn apart and waiting for the debris to be hauled off. When demolishing the RV, it was discovered that gas was still in the tank and the gas spilled into the soil in an area approximately 12 feet by 6 feet.
What to do? Live in a shed or rv? | Homesteading Forum
May 29, 2014 · Even if we buy a used one, we might end up with many repair issues. Then, we have to purchase a truck that can haul one - another expense. We are not young and with no rv experience might be "taken" by shops if things go wrong when traveling to the land. Experienced rv'ers might duct tape the problem until they get home knowing it is a small issue.
P-Trap for RV Toilet - Homesteading Forum
Jun 19, 2022 · This RV home is forever, so draining the black tank into the septic tank using a RV waste hose will not work. We have to have something permanent. I need to "hard line" it in, if that makes sense. We can only use the original RV toilet, which has no internal trap. I need to add one (for 3" pipe). Do they even make p-traps for toilets?
Gypsy wanderings - Homesteading Forum
Aug 9, 2024 · I'm swapping out the 2 lead acid house batteries in my RV for 2 12v 280ah lithium batteries. I ought to have plenty of power. I've mostly been making do with a 2,000 watt solar generator and some 100 watt solar panels lately. I'm changing over …
who has lived in a camper while building? | Homesteading Forum
Mar 20, 2011 · Dh and I lived in a 40 ft fifth wheel for 5 years until we moved a used mobile home onto the farm. By living in the RV we were able to get the mobile home livable alot sooner than if we lived off the farm. While in the RV there were times we had company spend the night and had the grandbabies over all the time.
