Nissan’s RB CAS is an optical sensor located on the exhaust camshaft gear. Its job is to read both the engine speed and the piston/stroke position and relay that information to the ECU which then uses it to calculate and deliver Fuel and Ignition events.

Nov 1, 2011 · i'm aware that using an rb25 cas on an rb20 loom with an rb25 ecu is incorrect as the ecu pinouts are different, but surely with an rb20 ecu fitted swapping CAS's should be fine if the pins are the same.

Dec 9, 2018 · So I've been trying to troubleshoot my RB20 not starting and I have a bad feeling that it is the cam angle sensor. I checked the wires from the CAS plug to the ECU plug and they go where they are supposed to.

May 16, 2009 · your cas has 3 ten mm head bolts that hold it to the cas bracket on the front of the ext cam, there should be 3 washers that bolt inbetween the cas and cas bracket that space the cas from the cas bracket

Jun 19, 2012 · Heres what we found doing a CAS check, took the cas out, spun the wheel with the ignition on run, injectors and coils fired, fuel pump turned on. Checked the CAS signal wires, when the cas was not spinning the signal ( green wire ) read 5 volts, when spinning the voltage went all over the place
