Pug is a small saddle tank engine belonging to the Other Railway. In 1956, Jinty and Pug - along with five other engines - were loaned by British Railways to run the North Western Railway while Sir Topham Hatt's engines visited the Mainland. Before leaving, the Fat Controller's engines showed Pug how to run the railway.

Jinty and Pug are two ex-LMS tank engines who once visited the North Western Railway in 1956, on loan from British Railways. They are old friends of Percy, who he knew from the odd occasions when he took stone trains to the other end of the railway.
