1. WHAT ORELOX TABLETS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR ORELOX Tablets are used to inhibit the growth of bacteria causing infections in the body. It belongs to a group of antibiotics called ‘cephalosporins’. The doctor has prescribed ORELOX for one (or more) of the following types of infection:

Interferes with bacterial cell-wall synthesis and division by binding to cell wall, causing cell to die. Active against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, with expanded activity against gram-negative bacteria. Exhibits minimal immunosuppressant activity. Oral suspension: 50 mg/5 ml, 100 mg/5 ml. Tablets: 100 mg, 200 mg. • Renal impairment.

Orelox 100 and Orelox 200 are indicated for use in the short-term treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections due to susceptible micro-organisms (sensitivity tests must be performed): Acute bronchitis due to: Haemophilus influenzae , Streptococcus pneumoniae , Moraxella catarrhalis .
