May 31, 2014 · Nubuck is leather. It's top grain cattle leather that's been sanded or buffed to give it that look. Putting shoe polish on it ruins it, which is why it 'can't go back to nubuck' and putting shoe polish on nubuck doesn't transform it into a different type of leather any more than painting your minivan flat black turns it into a stealth bomber.

Jan 21, 2018 · I used to spray new shoes with Kiwi Camp Dry silicone, but I yielded to the wisdom of the crowd who claimed silicone ruins shoes. Not sure about that, as I never noticed any problems, so I will probably resume siliconing new shoes. I treat suede shoes with Scotch Guard, which seems prudent and doesn't appear to damage the leather.

May 18, 2021 · Interesting. Bourbon shell sneakers no less. The brown deer suede look nice too. I don’t need any more shoes so I will resist the temptation to try a pair - for now at least. I noticed that over the last couple of years Allen Edmonds has been offering some high end sneakers. Basically dress shoe lasts and designs with a sneaker type sole.

Oct 18, 2015 · Stuff like using natural turpentine as the solvent rather than naptha or Stoddard solvents. Also, beeswax and a higher pigment density. Better solvents are better for the leather. It also smells WONDERFUL whereas Kiwi makes your shoes smell like you were careless while fueling you car, hah.
