Oct 21, 2006 · The F4 with a 4-cell battery, is noticeably lighter, especially when using lithium cells, than the 6-cell F4S. I use mine in both configurations, along with my F5. I particularly like the F4 when I use the PG-2 rack and pinion device that allows it to easily rotate the camera for vertical format when doing macros.

However, the 90% compatibility with the Nikon F4 means that I could only shoot in shutter priority, as there's no way to set the aperture on the lens.

Oct 11, 2007 · The F4 is the best Nikon I have ever used. I used to shoot mostly with a plain prism F, so I can guess pretty accurately the exposure anytime. The matrix metering on the F4 is on the money 99% of the time. The autofocus is accurate and fast enough. I have not tried the F5 or F6, but compared to the N80 the F4 is more accurate and almost as fast.

The LCD is connected to the contacts on the board via two conductive rubbers and just rests there. On my F4, the conductive rubbers stuck to the contacts a bit, so I carefully lifted out the LCD with an angled probe.

When shooting manual I set my aperture ring to where I want it and then I adjust my settings (shutter speed and exposure) according to the exposure meter that you see in the camera. Somehow my images area coming out underexposed and quite grainy.
