NS RP-F6Y (Remote Power - Fm 6-axle Yard service) slug 9905 was rebuilt from what was originally Wabash H-24-66 552. The full heritage is as follows: NS/NW 9905 = former NW 3598:4/NW 3592/Wabash 592/Wabash 552.

NS Yard Slug parked in front of the former Frackville Station. 2000 shifts the loading ramp in Temple while 1548 guards the rarely used branchline. An H24-66 was one I would have loved to see, but didn't.

Picture 1: NS 9905 leads eastbound train 134 through the Asheville, NC, arts district and into the NS yard. Picture 2: One of the cars in train 134 was this Norfolk Southern twin-hood coil car with a “squeezed” NS logo on one of the hoods.

NS 9905 (primer unit) heading away from the sun at Ligonier. It was just after this point that the dispatcher piped up and said to find a nice comfortable spot to stop and sit. Police were on the scene of a dead body near the tracks..all trains were stopped on NS for the body in Goshen.

One of those FM slugs, NS 9905, is now preserved at the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum. GTW 5629 and CB&Q 5632. Two B&O 2-8-8-4 EM-1s were earmarked for preservation after the B&O dieselized. 7609 was offered to the city of Wheeling, WV, who turned it down.
