Nickel Plate Road 765 is a preserved S-2 class 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built by the Lima Locomotive Works for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, commonly referred to as the "Nickel Plate Road".

There are six surviving NKP 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type locomotives.

Commonly referred to as the "Nickel Plate Road", the railroad served parts of the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Its primary connections occurred in Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Toledo.

Owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, this Berkshire type (2-8-4) is one of the largest historic steam locomotives operating in the US today.

The Nickel Plate Road Class S-2 locomotives are 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotives that were built in the 1940's by Lima. They pulled trains until the 1950's. 765 pulled mixed trains until 1958 and was restored to operation in 1979.
