In NEi Nastran the GLUE surface-to-surface contact is also handled by the Solver, which takes care of glue stiffness definition automatically. Jun 27, 2011 · I had a question concerning the DMIG input for NEI NASTRAN. We need to translate the matrices from an NEI NASTRAN file to another system. Feb 6, 2003 · For solid models NEi tends to be faster and in this case it was more like 5 times faster for NEiNastran. For nonlinear NEi seems to be faster but for dynamics MSC was faster but the differences were not that great. I think that overall for shell structures MSC will be faster and for solids NEi will be faster.

Jun 22, 2010 · NEi Nastran is very capable as well. Both products are well maintained with a full release every 6-12 months and interim maintenance releases 2-5x a year. NEi Nastran has the same solvers built in as ANSYS like the PCGLSS but seems to support the faster ones in more solutions. I never had an issue with solver speed.

Mar 6, 2003 · If I make a model by Femap and use parabolic elements, NEi/Nastran gives me a warning 'T2004' and it is caused by quad8-elements. If I use the same model and make an analyze by MSC/Nastran -> No problem. How this is possible?

Oct 15, 2007 · NX Nastran "basic" would be SOL106, probably the weakest of the lot (except for Mechanica), as you pointed out you'd need the advanced non-linear, SOL601, to perform surface-surface contact, although you might be able to get away with gap elements.
