The Morris Commercial C8 FAT (Field Artillery Tractor), commonly known as a (Beetle-back) Quad, is an artillery tractor used by the British and Commonwealth (including Canadian forces), during the Second World War.

The Morris CS.8 emerged from a 1934 War Office specification for the Royal Army specifying a light 4x4 truck primarily used as transport and prime mover, to which Morris answered as well as other competitors.

The Morris Commercial CS8, also known as the "Morris 15 cwt" was a British light military truck of the Second World War. Introduced in 1934 it was the most numerous vehicle of that size in the British Army at the start of the war but was replaced by other vehicles.

Jun 23, 2017 · Morris Commercial delivered the first C8 Quads in October 1939 and it stayed in production untill 1945. The Chassis and Engine were also used as a base for the C8 4x4 GS truck which was developed in 1943 and came into production in februari 1944.

Aug 18, 2012 · The Morris C8, nicknamed Quad, was designed as a field artillery tractor to replace the ageing Morris CDSW. The small, light steel-body 4x4 truck was used to tow a wide variety of British artillery, such as the QF 18 pdr and QF 25 pdr howitzers, and the QF 6 pdr and QF 17 pdr anti-tank guns.

1944 Morris C8 15cwt GS This lovely C8 was sympathetically restored in 2016 as an RAF vehicle of 144 Wing of the Allied Tactical Air Force operating in Normandy in June 1944. She was shown in the UK in 2017 and Normandy in 2018.
