Dr. Neimat's current research interests include investigation of the affective and cognitive properties of the basal ganglia, structures located deep in the brain that are responsible for normal movement.

Using a Parkinson’s disease model, we investigate hypotheses about how neurophysiological properties and deep brain stimulation of specific subregions and hemispheres of the subthalamic nucleus are linked to inhibitory action control mechanisms in the brain.
