There’s no tappy taps but the main riff is a measure of 7/8 followed by a measure of 4/4 and then back to 7/8? Probably math rock. The whole song is tappy taps and changing time signatures? Nov 23, 2014 · Personally I find the biggest difficulty in jamming math rock stems from time signatures. 4/4 genres can often be easy to pick up and play to, but with math rock it's often not intuitive to everyone in a group whether a particular groove is in 3/4, 5/4, 7/4 or something else.

As much as I love Toe, I feel like American Don is the one. Especially if you're only listening to one math rock album, American Don kinda bridges noisy 90's math rock a later twinkly tappy math rock. Plus while "the book about..." is basically a perfect album, it's not really "mathy" at all, pretty rhythmically straight forward.
