Myc - Wikipedia
Myc is a family of regulator genes and proto-oncogenes that code for transcription factors. The Myc family consists of three related human genes: c-myc (MYC), l-myc (MYCL), and n-myc (MYCN). c-myc (also sometimes referred to as MYC) was the first gene to be discovered in this family, due to homology with the viral gene v-myc.

Mar 30, 2025 · MYC (MYC Proto-Oncogene, BHLH Transcription Factor) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with MYC include Burkitt Lymphoma and High-Grade B-Cell Lymphoma Double-Hit/Triple-Hit. Among its related pathways are Prolactin Signaling and Constitutive Signaling by NOTCH1 HD+PEST Domain Mutants.
The MYC oncogene — the grand orchestrator of cancer growth …
MYC is a master regulator of multiple biological programmes and mediates much of its function primarily as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of thousands of genes, either directly or indirectly 5, 6.
MYC, Metabolism, and Cancer - PMC
The MYC oncogene encodes a transcription factor, MYC, whose broad effects make its precise oncogenic role enigmatically elusive. The evidence to date suggests that MYC triggers selective gene expression amplification to promote cell growth and proliferation.
MYC Activation Is a Hallmark of Cancer Initiation and Maintenance
MYC is a hallmark molecular feature of both the initiation and maintenance of tumorigenesis. Many cancers require sustained MYC activation. MYC induces tumorigenesis by evading multiple tumor-suppressing mechanisms (e.g., apoptosis). But …
Myc - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Myc, a transcription factor encoded by the MYC proto-oncogene, is a key regulator of G1–S progression and plays a direct role in the control of DNA replication. Myc is broadly expressed during embryogenesis, but it is also expressed in highly proliferative adult tissues (epidermis and gut) (Spencer and Groudine, 1991).
MYC protein interactors in gene transcription and cancer
Jun 29, 2021 · In this Perspective, we highlight how multiple proteins that interact with MYC enable MYC to regulate several central control points of gene transcription. These include promoter binding,...
MYC: a multipurpose oncogene with prognostic and therapeutic ...
Aug 9, 2021 · In this review, MYC regulation and the mechanisms by which MYC adjusts cellular functions and its implication in hematologic malignancies are summarized. Further, we also discuss potential inhibitors of MYC that could be beneficial for treating hematologic malignancies.
The MYC oncogene — the grand orchestrator of cancer growth …
Sep 10, 2021 · MYC activation drives cancer progression through mechanisms involving either the cell-intrinsic acquisition of hallmarks of cancer or dysregulation of the tumour microenvironment and host immune...
MYC function and regulation in physiological perspective
Oct 24, 2023 · MYC, a key member of the Myc-proto-oncogene family, is a universal transcription amplifier that regulates almost every physiological process in a cell including cell cycle, proliferation, metabolism, differentiation, and apoptosis. MYC interacts with several cofactors, chromatin modifiers, and regulators to direct gene expression.
