Sep 18, 2017 · I've had both at the same time. I now only own the MXR 10 band EQ. Both are great, but if you play the heavy (like me), the MXR edges out the Boss with more control especially on the low end. I used both in the loop and A/B'd right next to each other. Like I said, they're both great, but I only needed to keep one because I don't collect pedals.

Oct 28, 2017 · So, after a year of service, my MXR 10-Band EQ pedal (which I use to slightly temper the bass output on the "Custom" side of my '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb) started making quite a bit of noise. It was a LOUD hiss, that varied in intensity, with some crackling and popping. In general it sounded like a very high wind was buffetting a microphone.

Nov 18, 2012 · I have only used these 2 EQ's stock, but the GE-7 was definitely quieter, especially when using extreme settings. For subtle adjustments, both are pretty quiet really, but the GE-7's level control still gives it an edge over the MXR IMO. The MXR was absurdly noisy with the mids boosted all the way into a cranked amp, like scary white noise.

Aug 5, 2021 · That's a really high of a Q value for a fix-band EQ. A Q factor of 1.41 is what I normally see on 10-band graphic EQs, but if it's a 6 band then its probably lower than that. I'd start at 0.71 and tweak from there. I checked the manuals for both the MXR 10 band and MXR 6 band EQ and sadly, neither mentioned Q or BW factors.

I keep the EQ on top of my amp and then can make adjustments on the fly without bending down to the floor. We don't have a sound engineer and are unmiced except for vocals. The settings are different for guitars, ect.
