Yeah, Cyborg Raiden is obviously and undeniably cool as fuck at face value (he has the greatest moments in the game and easily the best action in the series) but like everything else in MGS4 he's deliberately made to be a grotesque exaggeration, a cautionary tale of what happens when you force characters to appear over and over as a concession to fan demands.

Mar 2, 2015 · Edit: I think that MGS4 greatly Improved on Raiden's character. As his story became more tragic I became more interested in him. Don't get me wrong I liked him in MGS2 and I really felt what he felt at the ending. I just liked how bad he has gotten between 2 and 4 and how he recovered in the end. I can't speak for MGR as I have not played it yet.

You could also claim Raiden was already a cyborg in MGS2 because he had a neural network of nanos control his will and consciousness. They were generating all his thoughts and outcomes. Well MGS2 raiden will always be best, but I would definitely put mgr raiden over MGS4 raiden because he extended the metaphor of raiden=the player, while to me MGS4 raiden seemed very forced into the role of the cyborg ninja, as a way to include raiden and a cyborg ninja.

Though the correct answer I think is that they will bring Cyborg Raiden in a future pack because he was also mentioned in a recent survey as "Cyborg Raiden"

Raiden and the player are lead to believe hes had no real battle experience other than VR, and through codec chats with the cornel, but especially Rose, we get to share a little of raidens pain as both raiden and the player slowly get to build this character of raiden as we learn his past/homelife/memorys.
