The M653's easy handling allows for a more stable aim, resulting in a high firing accuracy. This model has been modified with an extra underbarrel shotgun, greatly increasing its firepower and making it an effective weapon against both close- and long-range targets.

Jun 20, 2002 · The 75th Rangers issued the Colt 653 to M67 90mm recoiless rifle gunners. There's one in the back of the photo. It was also issued to platoon leaders, RTO's etc....like the XM177 series was to anyone that needed a more compact rifle in Vietnam.

Feb 7, 2019 · Colt 653s were never "officially" adopted. They were COTS purchases, just like the later Colt 723/727s and related. As such, they had commercial/export "M-16A1" markings. There are threads with pics of them floating around.... Mostly as Air Force "mix master"s. There were of course XM177 types that might have been upgraded.

I have no need for this, as of the large warehouse of things Kirk does not understand, pistol caliber carbines are in the top 3 or 5. But I want to buy, and I need to talk this out. What say you?
