Nov 11, 2024 · An M32A1B1, a PSC M4A1 the Automatic Tow Hook modification in 1945 (before its service in Israel) is at the Yad la-Shiryon Museum (Latrun). An M32B3 HVSS, a Ford M4A3 that received an Automatic Tow Hook in 1945 (before its service in Israel) at the Batey ha-Osef Museum (Tel Aviv).

Baldwin Locomotive Works produced 180 M32B1s, while 400 M32B1s were produced by Federal Machine and Welder Company before the end of 1944. 24 M32B1s were converted into M34 Prime Movers, used to pull heavy artillery. The M32s were used beginning in 1944 during Operation Overlord and subsequent battles in the European Theater of Operations.

To solve this problem, the M32 comes with stabilizer plates, that can be bolted, and safety wired in place to lock down the suspension. It also came with very large chocks blocks that lock into the tracks, to keep the vehicle in place and help prevent it from rocking.

These included E9 suspension, raised boom, remote control recovery hook, elimination of 81mm mortar and miscellaneous changes to stowage. TRVs with these features were to be standardized as M32A1, M32A1B1, M32A1B2 and M32A1B3.

Sep 12, 2023 · Staring in May 1945, Baldwin converted 37 M32B1s to M32A1B1 standard by replacing the vertical volute spring suspension with horizontal volute spring suspension. The newer Sherman combat tanks were also using HVSS, so parts commonality was maintained.

It was to succeed the M31 ARV based on the now obsolete M3 Lee Medium Tank, and produced on the M4, M4A1 (cast hull) and also M4A2, A3 shermans. More were built (1562) from late 1943 to 1945 than any other type. They served in Sicily-Italy by the fall of 1943, France from the summer of 1944, and Germany in 1945 but not the Pacific.

Aug 20, 2019 · The M32A1 added the HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension) suspension gear of upgraded Shermans and this was followed by the M32A1B1 which was the M32B1 with HVSS (175 conversions handled by Baldwin Locomotive).
