The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E4 class is a class of 0-6-2T side tank steam locomotive designed by Robert Billinton. They were introduced in 1897 and were essentially a larger version of the E3 Class. The cylinder diameter was reduced from 18 to 17.5 inches (457 to 444 mm) by the Southern Railway.

Stroudley designed the first 0-6-2 radial tank to be produced for the LBSCR as an improvement to his E1 class but he died while the work was in progress to complete the build of the locomotives. A further to sixteen more similar locomotives were constructed and the seventeen resulting locomotives were designated class E3.

All except the last are covered in Burtt (1903): the last is covered without a drawing in Burtt (1946) on page 43.
