The L85 Rifle variant has been the standard issue service rifle of the British Armed Forces since 1987, replacing the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle. The prototypes were created in 1976, with production of the A1 variant starting in 1985 and ending in 1994.

Feb 3, 2020 · The SA80 A2 L85 is a 5.56mm gas-operated assault rifle manufactured by Heckler & Koch. It is a member of the SA80 family of assault weapons and serves the British Armed Forces as individual weapon (IW) and light support weapon (LSW).

The SA80 Underslung Grenade Launcher (UGL) system consists of a Heckler & Koch AG-36 40mm grenade launcher and EO Tech holographic sight wedded to an ISTEC range drum. The UGL allows fire teams to deliver effective fragmenting munitions out to 350 metres.

The UGL is aimed either via leaf sights, EOTech reflex sight, or a Rapid Acquisition Aiming Module. L85A2 fitted with 40mm L123A2 Underslung Grenade Launcher (UGL). The current model in service is the L123A3.

May 29, 2023 · Finally, the prototype has been shown fitted with a new HK underbarrel grenade launcher (UGL) that can be fitted to the 6 o’clock rail of the fore-end rather than requiring the removal of the handguard as in the current SA80GL configuration.

The UGL is a modified variant of the Heckler and Koch AG36 and fires a range of 40mm rounds including high explosive, smoke, cs gas, baton rounds and white phosphorous. Regular and elite forces use the UGL fitted to the SA80A2 assault rifle, in a configuration known as SA80 UGL, designated L123A2.

Sep 4, 2012 · there is a UGL option for the Star L85 that i'm told by friends in the UK you can convert to fit any L85 reasonably easily. UGL on SA80 the standard IR light system for the SA80 is the Oerlikon Laser Light Module (LLM01).
