The KVVV transmitter and antenna were dismantled in 1970, but that equipment got a new lease on life two years later as it was used to put public television station KEDT/16 in Corpus Christi on the air on October 16, 1972.

It was the third UHF television station in Houston, after KHTV (channel 39, now KIAH) and KVVV-TV (channel 16, which lasted only for 18 months). Four years after signing on, in 1975, the station's call letters were changed to KDOG—a callsign chosen by former station general manager Leroy Gloger.

A money-losing proposition from the get-go, the station fired most of its staff by the end of ’68 and finally shut down entirely on August 31st of 1969.

Not to be confused with the current low-power station in Houston KVVV-LD. KVVV lost significant amounts of money during its only year of operation. Because of this, KVVV-TV went off the air on August 31, 1969.
