Hidden underground in rural Sussex is the world’s largest collection of seeds from wild plants. The Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) is home to over 2.4 billion seeds, representing over 39,000 different species of the world’s storable seeds.

Access the collections online or request seed for research. Kew's Millennium Seed Bank (MSB), which opened in 2000, is located at Wakehurst in West Sussex and is an integral part of the public visitor experience, together with the Mansion and gardens.

Normally, sufficient seed will be supplied to raise a nucleus stock only; further propagation will be necessary if large numbers of plants are desired. We usually send out 60 seeds or less per accession.
