
KTLA audio drop outs - DBSTalk Forum
Nov 15, 2007 · Just had a 5 LNB dish and HD DVR installed replacing DirecTivo HD - everything is much improved except I now get frequent audio dropouts and occasional picture glitches only on KTLA 5 Los Angeles. Anyone else seeing/hearing this? Jeff

Sep 19, 2006 · I've heard that the CW stations want to be treated as a network under the terms of SHVERA, while WB and UPN didn't care. If that's true, that likely means the end of the superstation package for anyone who doesn't qualify for distant network service. Has anyone heard anything along these lines, or have they seen KTLA or WSBK go away for them?

Apr 16, 2005 · The Definition of Superstation (BY the FCC) only allows all of the current Stations as True Superstations, WPIX, WWOR, WSBK, KWGN, and KTLA carried by DBS nationwide.
Superstations going away Sept19th- get grandfathered now
Sep 5, 2013 · KTLA, WPIX, WSBK and KWGN vanished from national cable distribution outside of a few lingering regional cable systems that are now subject to blackout. For example until more local affiliates launched cable systems in the northeast continued to used WSBK and WPIX as their initial source of UPN and WB programming.

So, for the monthly savings, it might be worth the risk of seeing if that grandfathered package can be severed by dropping only the additional superstations, without dropping KTLA.
