Sir Nicolas Conyngham Tindal, PC (12 December 1776 – 6 July 1846) was a celebrated English lawyer who successfully defended the then Queen of the United Kingdom, Caroline of Brunswick, at her trial for adultery in 1820.

HHJ Tindal was appointed as a Specialist Senior Circuit Judge in Birmingham in 2022 and is authorised to sit as a Judge of the High Court in the Chancery and King’s Bench Divisions and in the Administrative Court.

TINDAL, Sir NICHOLAS CONYNGHAM (1776–1846), chief justice of the common pleas, born at Coval Hall, near Chelmsford, on 12 Dec. 1776, was son of Robert Tindal, a solicitor of Chelmsford, by his wife Sarah, only daughter of John Pocock of Greenwich.

Jun 6, 2022 · The Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon, has appointed His Honour Judge Tindal to be a Specialist Circuit Judge with effect from 5 September 2022. The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midland Circuit, based at Birmingham Civil & Family Justice Centre.

Tindal started for it, along with Goulburn, who had resigned with the former ministers, and William Bankes, Member for the University from 1822 until his defeat in 1826. All were Trinity men and opposed to Catholic relief.
