When the Karafuto railway was integrated with the Japanese government railway during 1943, C12_1 was transferred to the JGR and renumbered with the JGR C12's No. 265. Also during 1942-1943, 3 more C12s were ordered from Karafuto Railway.

Nov 20, 2023 · The C12 originally has a trackside water pump connection under the cab that leads to a check valve injector. My intention is to direct the manual pump and axle pump to that check valve and have a tee that branches off to a valve that will regulate the return water feed back to the water tanks.

The C12 is the smallest tank locomotive among the domestically produced steam locomotives for JNR's main lines. This is a steam locomotive with a light axle load for simple lines that was the basis of the C56, and 282 locomotives were manufactured from 1932. Its small size made it a mascot for locomotive depots and a main character on local lines.
